Frequently asked questions for legal translations

How is the price of a legal translation made up?
The price is determined by multiplying the number of characters by the price per character. This is the basic price for the translation.
The price per word depends on the complexity of the text to be translated as well as the delivery time. Based on a basic price per character of
£0.02, this increases depending on the source and target languages as well as the subject area. Express translations are produced at an additional cost of £ 0.01 per character.
If you require a language combination that contains only one or no Western European language, the price per word may be higher. If you require full quality control, the final price will be slightly higher than with random quality control. In addition, the price per word increases if it is an express translation. Calculate the indicative price for your translation.
Word repetitions up to 27% will not be charged.

How is the delivery time of my legal translation determined?
The delivery time of a translation order is always determined in consultation with you. As a standard, we calculate one working day as a basis for the delivery time to familiarise ourselves with the order and plan one working day for 1500 to 2000 words. Urgent translations can be translated within one working day as long as they do not exceed 2000 words. If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to contact us. Our project managers will be happy to help you.

How do I send you the text to be translated for legal?
The source texts must be delivered or made available digitally. You can send your texts or files by e-mail to poststelle@workandtranslation.in.ua.
Our translators prefer to work with text and table files. However, this does not mean that you cannot provide other file formats. For example, if you use an editable PDF file, we can convert it, as well as various other file formats.

When do I need a certified legal translation?
A certified translation is required almost exclusively for legal reasons. Examples are identity documents, diplomas, certificates or driving licences. If in doubt, we advise you to check whether certification is actually required. For example, perhaps only a stamp from the translation agency is needed.
If the original document contains a stamp, the translated document usually also needs to be certified.

Can I send a terminology list for legal documents?
Yes, it is possible to send us terminology lists. In fact, we advise our clients to do so in order to keep the terminology and writing style consistent in case of multiple translations, as well as to be able to match the tone and purpose of the translation more accurately.
In addition, terminology lists are stored in translation memories if this is desired, so that all important terms and text passages are already available for follow-up orders.

Is a translation memory created for legal translations?
A translation memory is created for translations. This means that for similar translations from the same client, the previously translated words are stored in an individual translation memory and the words already known are subtracted from the total number of words. We also check whether sections are repeated in the source text itself. This is highly advantageous in terms of both cost and quality. By reusing words and phrases that have already been translated, translations are translated consistently, terms are used in the same way and the invoice amount per translation job can be lower.
